Job Description

Overview:

The Health Information Technology (HIT) Administrator will ensure the availability and integrity of clinical communication platforms, including electronic health records (EHR) systems, medical records processes, patient portals, and other relevant health applications and systems. The Administrator will be responsible for workflows and integration with supporting technology to advance the quality and efficiency of clinical practice amongst care teams. The Administrator will work closely with clinicians, directors, IT Department, and other relevant staff to optimize all electronic systems and continually ensure improvements in patient care and communication among the clinics and organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Sets the vision and develops a roadmap for electronic health systems across departments, clinics and staff
  • Leads teams and resources that design, implement, and support electronic health systems
  • Provides information, assistance, and operational support to all users that engage with clinical communication applications in support of patient care
  • Works with clinical users and information technology experts to ensure an ideal communication experience and ensures that platforms and systems are working to its full potential
  • Stays current in emerging trends of HIT and works closely with external vendors to communicate Advantage Health Centers enhancement requests and ensures ongoing progressive improvement in the technology and the use of the technology
  • Works collaboratively with Quality, Finance, Human Resources and other relevant departments in joint effort to complete the following audits– HRSA, Uniform Data Systems (UDS), HEIDIS, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), and other audits as necessary.
  • Responsible for directing, planning, coordinating, and administering the organization’s medical records program.
  • Supervises and monitors the facilitation of medical records requests and release of confidential information in accordance with rules and regulations.
  • Lead efforts to coordinate electronic health systems workflows including clinic medical faxes, medical records requests, and other related issues
  • Communicates back to the sites on both resolution and open issues
  • Works closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions
  • Establishes and directs priorities for electronic health system modifications, requests, projects, resolving issues and ongoing support
  • Oversee the implementation/integration of HIT systems to deliver best practice solutions to support both patient care and business initiatives
  • Provides leadership to align applications with organizational electronic health system
  • Coordinates with site leadership and clinical leaders on identifying critical issues or requests and partners with them on solutions
  • Oversees the operational issues, plans and resolutions for electronic health systems

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Health Information Technology or closely related role with a healthcare organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Health Information Technology field

Education:

  • Required:
    Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Technology or closely related field
  • Preferred:
    Master's Degree in Health Information Technology or closely related field
