Game Design Intern - Undergraduate

About the Team:

Are you passionate about game design and eager to turn your creativity into reality? Insomniac Games is looking for a Design Intern who understands the fundamentals of making great games and has a keen eye for detail and a flair for the unexpected. If you're excited to dive into the world of game development and pursue design as a career, this is the opportunity for you!

What You'll Do:

• Work with development environments like Unity or Unreal Engine, and use 3D modeling tools like Maya to bring game content to life.
• Implement game elements, such as world building, combat setups, event triggers, and scripted game structures.
• Collaborate with senior members of the Design team and learn every aspect of the game development process.
• Leverage your passion and knowledge of the gaming industry to create engaging and fun experiences.

What We're Looking For:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a degree in Game Design or a related field.
• Projected to graduate between Spring 2025 - Spring 2026.
• Strong passion for video games and an understanding of what makes them fun and engaging.
• Familiarity with a 3D modeling package like Maya or 3DSMax (Maya preferred).
• Scripting experience is required, with visual scripting (like Kismet) or programming languages being a plus.
• Experience with level-editing tools such as Unreal, Unity, or Hammer is highly desirable.
• Self-motivated, creative, and responsible, with a strong work ethic.

Eligibility:

• Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
• Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
• Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.


Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
