Responsibilities:

The Outpatient RN provides high quality professional nursing services in a family practice setting. Family medicine providers in Hondo offer a variety of health care choices for individuals and families. We provide preventive care, teach healthy lifestyle choices, identify and treat common medical conditions, and assess the urgency of medical problems.

  • Serve as sole clinical staff member at the Hondo Family Practice clinic, working directly under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner.
  • Support the provider during patient evaluations as needed, including rooming, chart preparation, and follow-up care.
  • Respond to patient phone calls and MyChart messages, assess symptoms, provide guidance per triage protocols, and coordinate with provider for evaluation or escalations.
  • Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, manage vaccines, and ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support scheduling, coordination of referrals, prior authorizations, and communication with patient.
  • Provide patient education on medications, chronic disease management, and follow-up instructions.
  • Perform nurse visits, including vital signs, medication administration, immunizations, wound care, and chronic disease support.
  • Conduct phlebotomy visits - Including blood draws, specimen handling, and subsequent documentation.
  • Provide assessments and care for walk-in patients.

Qualifications:

  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License or Graduate Nurse Permit required
  • Associate Degree Nursing
  • BLS and ACLS Required at time of hire
