Lighting Maintenance Electrician - Full Time

REPORTS TO: Lighting Supervisor


GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB FUNCTION:

The Lighting Maintenance Electrician at Hale Centre Theatre provides full-time support for daily show maintenance. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that all lighting equipment is maintained at optimal performance. This includes completing daily atmospheric checks, reading show reports, addressing maintenance requests / work orders, and working under the guidance of the Lighting Supervisor and Assistant Lighting Supervisors.

The position involves working with a wide range of moving lights from various manufacturers, with a focus on High End Systems fixtures, Aryton, Elation, and Chauvet Fixtures. This position also involves working with a variety of atmospherics including but not limited to Ultratech, MDG, Chauvet, Antari, and Showven equipment. Additional responsibilities include maintaining static LEDs, conventional fixtures, dimmers, relays and other standard theatrical lighting equipment. The Lighting Maintenance Electrician will also support lighting installation during show changeovers and assist with preparation for upcoming productions and events. Tasks include building lighting elements into custom show pieces, wiring various types of practicals, soldering, repairing equipment, and preparing for show installs — such as pre-addressing, cleaning, performing full system checks, and conducting complete fixture maintenance. Responsibilities also involve using MaintainX for inventory updates, logging parts into the system, applying QR codes to new and existing equipment, and creating or updating work orders for fixture or equipment repairs.

This role is responsible for communicating parts and repair needs to the Lighting Supervisor and Head of Lighting / Video and for ensuring maintenance records are kept current.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of DMX, wireless protocols, LED decoders, and lighting control systems
  • Comfortable working with various LED tape, neon, and custom show specific equipment
  • Ability to collaborate on testing new equipment and diagnosing fixture issues
  • Proficiency with ETC Eos family lighting consoles, systems & networking
  • Ability to read and interpret light plots, wiring diagrams & technical paperwork
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting skills for a variety of lighting equipment and fixtures
  • In-depth understanding and ability to repair the internal workings of moving lights, LED fixtures, and atmospheric units
  • Ability to work closely with lighting programmers to implement fixture and equipment updates
  • Experience working with atmospherics requiring C02 tanks (Mainly large Dewars & 20lb tanks)
  • Comfortable working with motorized & static heights
  • Comfortable operating scissor lifts, forklifts & elevated work platforms
  • Ability to lift up to 120 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
