Job Summary Health Educations Specialist – University of California, San Francisco Department: Dermatology The Health Educations Specialist will manage the strategic and operational aspects of all educational programs across five locations (UCSF Health, VAMC, ZSFGH, BCHO). Reporting to the Vice Chair of Education and the Director of Administration, the role oversees six core program areas: ACGME‑accredited Dermatology Residency Program; ABMS‑accredited Clinical Fellowship Programs; Non‑ACGME Clinical Fellowship Programs; undergraduate clerkships; and GME appointments for visiting scholars. Primary responsibilities include leadership, mentorship, compliance oversight, and coordination with GME, UME, continuing medical education, and regulatory bodies. Key Responsibilities Provide administrative leadership for the Dermatology Residency Program, supporting a cohort of 22 residents. Co‑supervise Program Assistants, providing guidance on day‑to‑day educational operations. Coordinate personnel and curriculum administration for all trainees including residents, fellows, undergraduate researchers, medical students, and visiting scholars. Administer and maintain the MedHub system for evaluations, data tracking, and performance monitoring. Ensure compliance with ACGME’s Next Accreditation System, monitoring resident progress through Milestones aligned with the six core competencies. Prepare and submit accreditation and compliance documentation to external agencies such as ACGME, California Medical Board, American Board of Dermatology, and American Academy of Dermatology. Coordinate all aspects of resident and fellow recruitment, including participation in the National Resident Matching Program. Manage program logistics, including appointments, rotation and didactic schedules, Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, in‑training exam administration, and graduation. Lead the planning and execution of semi‑annual Dermatology Faculty Development sessions. Support submission of educational grant applications and manage complex event planning for academic activities. Draft official correspondence, prepare presentations, and facilitate internal and external communications. Provide occasional early‑morning, evening, or weekend support for time‑sensitive events. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $83,700 - $125,600 (Annual Rate). Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, collective bargaining agreement, and additional UC policy approvals. Benefits information and total compensation can be viewed at Department Description The Department of Dermatology’s educational program operates across three clinical sites and offers a diverse range of training initiatives, including a three‑year ACGME‑accredited Dermatology Residency Program and a four‑year Physician‑Scientist Track. Two non‑ACGME clinical fellowship programs cover advanced training in complex medical dermatology, psoriasis, and clinical research. The department also runs a Visiting Resident Program and supports undergraduate clerkships. Required Qualifications BA/BS degree in business administration or related field; minimum three years fellowship coordination or equivalent experience. Thorough knowledge of health‑professions education program requirements and regulatory frameworks. Proficiency in administrative analysis, operational research, and system implementation. Experience with educational software and platforms, and ability to improve user experience. Data management expertise, including statistical analysis across databases and systems. Knowledge of ACGME and GME requirements. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening and critical thinking. Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and problem‑solving abilities. Excellent organizational skills, analytical mindset, and attention to detail, with ability to meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience with MSSO‑fellow and physician medical staff privileges (credentialing and billing). Visa application and renewal experience for ISSO. Prior experience with fellowship programs and event planning. Experience with ERS online application systems. Research and/or training grant experience.
