Responsibilities

ECS is hiring an experienced CAD Drafter / CAD Operator to support our special projects group which consists of geotechnical and transportation design teams across multiple offices in North Carolina. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-impact infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, retaining walls, deep foundations, and slope stabilization systems .

Ideal candidates will be proficient with MicroStation , OpenRoads , and Bentley CAD software , and have direct experience supporting design-build transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain geotechnical design drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads, and related Bentley software
• Draft and document key geotechnical features: piling systems, drilling layouts, shallow/deep foundations, embankments, retaining walls, and slope protection elements
• Prepare and format technical documentation and digital figures for NCDOT and transportation agency submissions
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, and transportation project teams to convert design concepts into construction-ready plans
• Ensure all drawings adhere to project standards and CAD quality guidelines

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a CAD drafting role supporting civil or geotechnical engineering projects
• Experience working on NCDOT or other DOT-related projects
• Proficient in MicroStation and/or OpenRoads
• Strong understanding of geotechnical design principles and CAD modeling of subsurface features
• Familiarity with transportation design-build workflows and deliverables

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert Level proficiency in Bentley CAD software and digital project file organization
• Previous involvement in large-scale transportation infrastructure or roadway projects
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary design teams
