Job Description

Who We Are
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is an academic institution intrinsically tied to the real world-a confluence of industry knowledge, work ethic and an enduring desire to know more. The university offers bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering, computer science, machine learning, user experience, construction management, actuarial science, business and nursing. With about 3,000 students, faculty and staff, MSOE is large enough for big opportunities and small enough for personal attention.

A Small University Dedicated to Achieving Big Things
MSOE is a supportive environment where everyone is valued. Our method of learning by doing is our distinction: it is how we teach, how we learn and how we serve. Faculty bring their real-world experience into the classroom, and small class sizes keep instructors in close contact with students. MSOE's top priority is serving our students. By joining our community, you are building the leaders of tomorrow.

Our Mission
MSOE is the university of choice for those seeking an inclusive community of experiential learners driven to solve the complex challenges of today and tomorrow. We are united by our six values-collaboration, excellence, inclusion, innovation, integrity and stewardship-which represent the core of our campus culture. Under the leadership of Dr. John Walz, MSOE has embarked on an ambitious strategic plan, Extraordinary Together, that propels the institution forward. At MSOE, we are dedicated to promoting an academic environment marked by an unwavering respect for every individual.

Join our Faculty
The Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) Department is seeking an Assistant Professor of Architectural Engineering to join our dynamic team in Fall 2026 as a full-time faculty member at MSOE. We are actively seeking a passionate educator to complement our outstanding faculty, forge industry partnerships, drive student recruitment, and mentor our extraordinary students. This role is ideal for those who are enthusiastic about educating the next generation of built environment professionals.

The successful candidate is passionate about innovative teaching, focused on student success, ready to develop new courses as the need arises, and eager to collaborate with faculty in our growing department. Exceptional candidates with a specialty in all areas of architectural engineering will be considered. The preferred candidate will be willing and energetic to teach fundamental courses that are an integral part of all three of our undergraduate programs: architectural engineering, civil engineering, and construction management (e.g., first-year design). Opportunities to engage undergraduate students in research projects may also be pursued. Applications at senior rank will be considered.

The CAECM Department maintains a strong student-centered focus and is committed to educating future leaders in engineering design and construction. The Department currently serves more than 400 undergraduate and graduate students. Degree offerings include Bachelor and Master of Science in Architectural Engineering, Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. Several specializations are available, including structural engineering, mechanical and electrical systems engineering for buildings, environmental and water resources engineering, transportation engineering and construction management. In addition, the department collaborates with other departments on campus to provide broad educational opportunities for all students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging undergraduate courses, focusing on hands-on learning.
  • Refine and contribute to our maturing curricula.
  • Support both student recruitment and student success.
  • Stay current in field(s) of expertise through consulting, research, and/or continuing education.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in architectural engineering, civil engineering, facilities engineering, or a closely related discipline. Will also consider a Master's degree in architectural engineering, civil engineering, facilities engineering, or a related discipline plus at least three (3) years of industry experience.
  • Strong commitment to and interest in undergraduate teaching and mentorship.
  • Available beginning Fall of 2026
Applications at senior rank will also be considered.
