GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Vice President for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer is responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership, and direction for the student affairs division for the College to include Student Life, Residence Life, Athletics, Access and Accommodations, Title IX, Code of Conduct, Financial Aid, the Wellness Center, Counseling Services, Academic Advising & Success Coaching, Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. Responsibilities also include divisional strategic planning; building collaborative relationships across the college; developing processes/procedures that contribute to increased effectiveness, efficiency, and student retention; plan, direct, implement, and evaluate college wide student affairs activities and operations; develop mechanisms for a wide range of delivery systems; implement new and emerging technology in support of student affairs services; and coordinate assigned functions and activities with other College departments, campuses, and outside agencies. The Vice President will serve on the President's Cabinet and work collaboratively with executive leadership to support the college's mission, vision, and strategic plan.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide executive leadership and support to the division that includes planning and implementing program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures and oversee diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts for the College.

Serve as the Chief Student Affairs Officer for the College; Engage with SUNY System opportunities for student support, success, and retention efforts. Work in conjunction with the Vice President for Development, Admissions, and External Affairs on enrollment management efforts for the College.

Serve as the Chief Diversity Officer for the College; assist in making the campus an increasingly inclusive and welcoming environment through the development and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. Ensure College procedure and practices are in alignment with SUNY, federal, state, and local guidance.

Supervise and assess College operation and functions pertaining to all student services and related programs including: International Student Services, Financial Aid and Veterans Services, Student Engagement and Inclusion, Intercollegiate Athletics, Student Conduct, Counseling Services, Child Care Center, Student Wellness Services, Access and Accommodations, Testing, Student Success Coaching/Academic Advisement, Genesee Community College Association, Residence Life, and relevant grants.

Serve as the College Primary Designated School Official with oversight of institution international student eligibility.

Provide leadership, direction, oversight, and effective performance management for managers.

Develop and maintain an annual budget that ensures fiscal responsibility while aligning with and supporting the needs of student services as outlined in the strategic plan.

Lead the College's student retention efforts, in conjunction with other Vice Presidents; plan and develop programs to support student completion, reenrollment, and persistence.

Maintain and analyze data related to strategic directions; proactively assess effectiveness of programs and offices in response to market forces and college objectives.

Provide leadership on the administration of the Student Code of Conduct including Title IX, code violations and grievance processes.

Collaborate with grant personnel to provide oversight of all grant-funded programs within the Student Affairs Division or related to the Chief Diversity Role to ensure that goals are met, funds are appropriately expended, and all reports are submitted in a timely fashion.

Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and SUNY mandates as related to students and student issues, including but not limited to Title IX, Title IV, Clery, ADA, FERPA, and similar regulations.

Serve as Chairperson of the Genesee Community College Association including meeting planning, management, committee activities and budget oversight.

Attends Board of Trustee meetings and provides reports as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned by the President of the College to accomplish the College's goals.

Job Requirements:
EDUCATION:

Master's degree in student development, student personnel, higher education, educational leadership, or related field required. Doctorate preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible post-secondary institution experience, including at least five years supervising student affairs areas such as financial aid, student success coaching/academic advising, judicial affairs (i.e. Dean of Students), student engagement and inclusion, athletics, residence life, etc. required. A proven track record of advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice efforts required. Experience in a community college preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Excellent communication and human relations skills. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and supervise a broad and diverse range of departments and personnel. Demonstrated knowledge in planning, organizing, administering and assessment of student services and programs. Knowledge in budget planning and management. Demonstrated effectiveness working with populations having diverse values, and/or coming from varied cultures and backgrounds. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and the academic, intellectual, and social development of all students and employees. Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging technology, for example, Microsoft365, Slate CRM, Banner Student Operating System, and ARGOS Reporting. Incumbent must be mindful of and develop solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use college facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically. This position reports to the President of the College.

Reporting to this position: Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Enrollment Services/Director of Financial Aid, Assistant Vice President of Student Engagement and Athletics, Director of Student Success Center Operations, Support Staff, Relevant Student Affairs and/or Diversity grants as appropriate (EX: Pathways, TRiO Student Support Services)

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a twelve-month, full-time position. Salary, benefits and conditions of employment are as set by Procedure 230. We offer generous paid time off including sick, vacation, and personal time. Additionally, we offer comprehensive health and dental coverage, life insurance, and an FSA plan. Some travel is required.
