Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU Float position requiring a CO or compact RN license and critical care certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work within the ICU Float Pool across multiple acute care facilities in Colorado Springs, Zone 1
• Float between various ICU types, including MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU, and may float to PCU/Stepdown and MS-Tele units as needed
• Patient assignments vary from 1:1 to 1:3 based on acuity, with high acuity patients such as those requiring CRRT, IABP, or Impella devices
• Common patient population includes general critical care cases
• Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin
• Night shifts with 12-hour shifts and 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
• Required to float within a 60-mile radius in Zone 1; no home base facility
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Designated charge nurse present who may take a small patient assignment during night shifts
• Provide comprehensive critical care for diverse ICU populations, flexing between units as assigned
• No nurse aides available except for sitter needs
• Travelers responsible for securing housing that enables floating throughout the 60-mile zone
• All requested time off must be submitted prior to assignment start
• May participate in holiday rotations as assigned
• Orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor; clinicians must be in state for orientation week
• Any scrub color is permitted
• Charge nurses and RTs support the unit, but travelers should be able to manage respiratory equipment independently
• Returning candidates may not have worked for CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months, one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active CO or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required; 3+ years and previous Epic experience required if first time traveler
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications are required
• Must be comfortable reading and interpreting own telemetry strips
• Ability to assist in troubleshooting and managing respiratory needs, including vent, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow equipment
• Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius from the city center of the float zone
