Position Summary

The Security Guard is responsible for the protection, safeguarding and security of assets,
personnel, customers, tenants, visitors, and other people and property on our grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe environment through a team effort of diligent active patrol, strict access control, monitoring, and equipment control
• Be visible and observant, greeting staff, guests, and vendors in a courteous and attentive manner
• Inspect and patrol premises regularly
• Respond immediately to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, and incidents
• Maintain the company’s reputation with professionalism and legal compliance
• Enforce policies and procedures of the company
• Collaborate with other security officers for effective protection and coverage
• Control and monitor surveillance equipment, and perform building and equipment inspections
• Complete and submit daily reports, including relevant information, observations, surveillance footage, and signatures
• Neutralize situations calmly with tact and common sense
• Perform requests by the customers within scope of security duties or within reason
• Performing other work-related duties as assigned

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED

• Previous administration, operation or maintenance/installation experience with any or all of the following: access control systems, closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, and or intrusion detection systems.
• Previous experience in emergency dispatching (Police/Fire/EMS)
• Previous experience with the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
• Previous experience as a central station alarm dispatcher/operator
• Geographical familiarity with the New York Metropolitan region
• Previous experience in mass/public transportation systems.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year proven experience as a professional security guard
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to work rotating and non-traditional hours (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, etc)
• Ability to be held for mandatory overtime
• Must pass a rigorous background investigation
• Must pass a general physical, drug, and alcohol test

License/Certification Requirements

• Security Officer License

crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by
this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability
to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Schedule: 6 AM - 2 PM, 2 PM - 11 PM

Salary: $17.70 per hour
