POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a Spanish Medical Interpreter to join our team! The Medical Interpreter r eceives patients/visitors and provides interpretation services during various processes, and make sight translations of documents. The Medical Interpreter will provide accurate concepts and explanations with no additions or omissions, and according to conventions of established interpretation protocol. They successfully process and impart information swiftly, and relay intentions, emotions and tone in interpretations. They also provide educational opportunities for staff.

* This position is PRN, varying hours, with the possibility of up to 20 hours per week *

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Preferred applicants have outstanding problem-solving skills, and have the ability to work to a high level of accuracy
3. Valid certificate of accredited interpreting training
4. Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills
5. Computer skills
6. Strong communication skills. Ability to follow instruction under pressure, show compassion and empathy
7. Outstanding listening, retention and note taking skills
8. Proficient enunciation and pronunciation skills and pleasant professional voice
9. Proficient understanding of cultural sensitivity and ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
