Job Description

Overview

i3 is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support the Naval Research Laboratory, Tactical Electronic Warfare Division. The TEWD's mission is to protect the warfighter from emerging threats by advancing electronic warfare (EW) through RDT&E of technologies.

Responsibilities



  1. Manage a VMware vSphere 7.X infrastructure to support maintained operation and compliance with security hardening and patching schedules.

  2. Maintain documentation for network configuration in accordance with input from the ISSM / ISSO and approved SOPs.

  3. Maintain Horizon 8 Connection servers for user access to various dedicated and instant clone virtual machines, including Unix and Windows systems.

  4. Plan and document migrations of hardware and software components to ensure system compliance (e.g., Server 2019 to 2022, vCenter 7.X to 8.X).

  5. Maintain Windows and Unix systems in virtual and physical capacities to meet patching and software needs.

  6. Manage virtual and physical switches to ensure network core functions are compliant and operational.

  7. Maintain hardware and software inventories to track devices and software in use.

  8. Occasionally perform after-hours upgrades of core networking features to maintain security compliance and minimize downtime.

Qualifications



  1. Bachelors Degree and 6+ years of technical experience.

  2. Strong knowledge of Windows, Unix, and VMware products and OSes.

  3. Experience with SIEM applications like Event Sentry, Splunk, etc., including management and configuration.

  4. Excellent troubleshooting skills and verbal communication abilities.

  5. Knowledge of automation tools for compliance and vulnerability management (e.g., SCAP, EvaluateSTIG, Tenable SC).

  6. Experience with endpoint protection solutions for endpoint hardening.

  7. Minimum of DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).

  8. US Citizenship required.

Clearance Requirements:


  • TS with SCI security clearance.

Preferred Skills:


  • Knowledge of cryptographic devices for network security.

  • Operational knowledge of networking principles and Cisco configurations.

  • VMware Certified Professional (various certs).

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar.

Physical Demands



  • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently stand, walk, handle, reach.

  • Occasionally sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift up to 10-25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

  • Work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, with occasional additional hours.
