Job Summary Detail-oriented, organized, and personable individual needed to assist with in-person focus group interviews. The Research Assistant position will provide support to Bengucan Gunen, MSPH in the Community Health & Prevention Department, in August and September 2024. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Research Assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting qualitative data collection (in-person focus group interviews) for a Photovoice study on renal diet adherence among individuals with end-stage kidney disease and obesity. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring participants with low mobility can safely arrive and leave, and taking notes during focus group discussions. Each interview session will take 2 hours, from setup to cleanup. The Research Assistant will attend: 1 orientation session, 3 interview sessions, and Zoom meetings.
Essential Functions - Accompanying participants to and from their ride.
- Setting up refreshments and data collection materials (AV projection, prints of photographs, audio recording).
- Troubleshooting logistical problems during the interview sessions to ensure the interview is not interrupted.
- Taking notes to contribute to iterative qualitative data collection planning.
- Checking interview transcriptions for accuracy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications - A bachelor's degree in public health (or another closely related field) is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and punctuality are required.
- A competitive applicant should also have an understanding of qualitative interviewing approaches.
Preferred Qualifications - Expertise in Microsoft Office and audio recording are highly recommended.

Additional Information This is a part-time, per diem position classified as non-exempt. The pay offered is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
