SUMMARY: Provides assistance in the collection and processing of research data, samples, and/or specimens in support of a specified medical research study or group of studies. May perform and record field interviews and/or routine clinical tests and procedures, in strict accordance with specified research and clinical protocol. May travel to various sites within a specified geographical area, as appropriate to the objectives of the study.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assists with subject recruitment, administration or informed consent and subject scheduling.
- Assists in the development of interview schedules; contacts potential subjects to introduce and explain study objectives and protocol, and to arrange interviews, either in person or by telephone.
- Collects, processes, and assists in the compilation and verification of research date, sample and/or specimens, following strict protocol and detailed instructions.
- Assists with routine data analysis and interpretation, as specifically assigned may utilize specializes analytical equipment and/ or instrumentation or specified statistical data analysis programs and software.
- Assist with routine data verification and quality control, ensuring data integrity
- Collect health history and vital sign data and enter into electronic patient record accurately, thoroughly and in a timely manner
- Obtain pertinent labs, x-rays, other tests as needed by the provider to assist with patient care with promptness
- Assists in the setup, operation, and maintenance of research equipment, instrumentation, and/or facilities, specifically instructed.
- Scans exam room with scintillation probe to ensure its free of radiation
- Assis with processing of laboratory reports, to include clarifying lab orders made by the provider and forwarding results to patients in a timely fashion.
- Maintain timely communication with patients
- At the direction of the provider, assist in the provision of sample medication or prescriptions and the documentation of such
- Work on special projects as assigned
- Assist provider with Thyroid Biopsies, to include setting up of supplies, shipment of specimens and append the proper correspondence
- Order supplies for Thyroid biopsies to include alcohol filled specimen containers, slides, plastic slide transport containers, Pathology requisition slips and biohazard bags.
- Assist provider with entering patients data into Thyroid sonogram machine
Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Medical Assistant Certification
1-2 years experience

- Ability to collect standard vital signs.
- Ability to communicate in a courteous manner, friendly tone and in intelligible speech at all times.
- Possess basic customer service skills and phone etiquette
- Possess basic typing/windows computers skills
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow scientific research protocol and procedures.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Ability to understand and apply specified field and/or laboratory research procedures and protocols.
- Computer data entry skills.
- Skill in the use of computer spreadsheet and/or database applications in the compilation of research data.
- Ability to analyze valuates, verify, and edit research data.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times a MUST.
Work Environment: - Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment
- Moderate physical activity. Required handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment
- Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogen and will require OSHA training.
