Job Description

We now need a results-driven Program Manager to join our Sprint team.
Success Academies has a profoundly innovative schooling model that achieves outstanding results at scale, and our approach to children with the highest educational needs is just as radical. We begin with the core belief that disability does not mean an inability, that no child should be written off because of learning challenges. Fifteen percent of our scholars receive special education support, and we designed and launched the Sprint program to ensure we provide these most vulnerable scholars an outstanding education. While the identification of scholars demonstrating a need for special education services and execution of the necessary interventions and supports are carried out at the school-level, a supporting Network capability has shared responsibility and accountability for supporting our scholars.
Reporting into the Lead of Sprint, the Program Manager, Social Emotional Learning Specialist is responsible for the direct management and oversight of SA’s Social Emotional Learning Specialists. This Program Manager will design and implement all systems necessary for ensuring SA comprehensively supports the mental health and social-emotional development of all scholars. This Program Manager must display strong leadership as well as a deep understanding of child and adolescent mental health. This Program Manager will champion the development and implementation of social-emotional learning opportunities for scholars.
Key responsibilities include:
Continuous improvement/innovation of SA SEL program
End-to-end management of SEL Specialist staffing process for all SA Schools, including:
Interviewing and approving candidate offers
Determining appropriate placement locations
Liaising with network partners to manage new hire process
Collaborating with network partners to support new hire onboarding & training
Ensuring appropriate certification of all new and current SEL Specialists
SEL Specialist professional development/team training
Leading/managing SEL Specialist team training program, ensuring robust system for continuing education and professional development
Ensuring SELs have appropriate tools, resources, and skills to manage behavior support at a high level within their schools and deliver against SEL KPIs/role outcomes
Manage approval and implementation of external professional development opportunities
Provide supervision as necessary for employee certification
Ownership of SEL Specialist performance management, including:
Designing and implementing robust systems for feedback and accountability
Partnering with Senior Leaders in the development, management, and evaluation of SEL Specialists
Development of, and management against SEL KPIs and SEL Specialist Performance Evaluation Criteria
Partnering with talent management teams to create and implementing performance process review process
Supporting with ongoing performance concerns
Identifying, designing, and implementing pathways to provide social-emotional learning opportunities to scholars K-12
Managing inventory and external partnerships and programs (ex: Second Step curriculum, partnership with Uwill or other similar organizations) to support scholar social-emotional and mental health
Liaising with School Managers and Senior Leaders for high-needs scholar cases at schools, including risk assessments, safety threat assessments, and significant mental health concerns
Supporting school teams in response to scholar, family, and community crises (ex - death in the community, family loss of housing, hospitalization)
Creation of standard work around staffing, external partnership/inventory management, performance evaluations, and other aspects of SA’s SEL program
Required Qualifications
All degrees and certifications required of a New York State School Social Worker or certified School Psychologist- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or New York State licensed PhD Psychologist with child/adolescence experience strongly preferred
Minimum 4 years of experience providing school-based mental health services
Minimum 2 years experience implementing school-based social-emotional learning programs
Minimum 1 year experience people management
Demonstrated alignment with Success Academy’s school design
Required Traits
Effectively collaborates with a broad base of constituents at all levels, including senior organizational leadership; Ability to gain buy in and cooperation from management
Strong people and performance management skills; adept at providing feedback and developing rising talent
Fluency with Google Suite/Microsoft Office including Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel, and able to easily create clea/useful spreadsheets/trackers
Strong strategic thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrates initiative and perseverance to achieve desired outcomes in an innovative and fast-paced environment
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced, high-pressure environment
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Excellent planning and time management skills
