POSITION TITLE:
Middle and/or High School Academically or Intellectually Gifted Specialist

Knowledge of college and career readiness and rigorous preparation pathways
Ability to compile, analyze, and evaluate data to collaboratively improve student outcomes
Effective meeting planning and facilitation
Grant development and coordination
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: North Carolina Teacher license required
AIG certification required
Experience teaching middle and/or high school preferred
Administrative degree or equivalent work experience preferred
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months, Part-Time
SALARY: North Carolina Teacher's Salary Schedule
FLSA Status: Exempt
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Use various tools to effectively communicate with AIG and advanced learning stakeholders
Create awareness of gifted education and advanced learning services
Align daily responsibilities with the Onslow County School Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) plan and state program standards
Administer assessments associated with gifted education and advanced learning courses
Design, deliver, and evaluate professional development for educators and administrators in gifted education
Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, administrators, parents, and students on identification and provision of services for advanced learners and gifted students
Review student transcripts and meet with students to develop educational plans reflective of areas of identification and appropriate rigor
Utilize data from sources including, but not limited to ACT, SAT, ASVAB, WorkKeys, etc.
Use PSAT and AP Potential data to inform course offerings and student interventions
Coordinate district and school level Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate initiatives
Assist in the monitoring and development of the Onslow County Schools AIG Strategic Plan
Assist with organizing and expanding enrichment opportunities for high school students
Seek grants to increase opportunities and supports for advanced learning and gifted students
Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely.
Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push and pull.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and students.
Must be able to drive to variety of school sites.
