Job Description

We are hiring immediately for this Jockey Driver position to join our team working at the Norfolk Southern Railyard in Harrisburg, PA in a recession-proof industry! This is an entry-level full-time permanent position with on-the-job training. No CDL is required. We'll teach you everything you need to know to be successful on the job. No Experience is required. The job is a combination of a Hostler Driver and Ground Person as they are 1 and the same job.
You will be an employee of Pacific Rail Services and not an employee of the Railroad.

Starting Rate is $19.50/hr (Overtime is $29.25/hr) w/ Weekly Pay

• 2 raises each in your 1st and 2nd year, 1 raise yearly after year 3.
• Potential to earn $55,000 - $70,000 annually in hourly pay with overtime.

Shifts:
For shifts, we have 2 options; * A 4 DAY WORK WEEK WITH 3 DAYS OFF*or a 5 day work week with 2 days off. Both shifts you'd work up to 12 hours daily. (This does not guarantee 12 hours daily) Most of our employees currently work between 48 and 70 hours a week.

• The 5 day work week could require a mandatory 8hr 6th day after your probationary period is up
• 5:00 PM start time

Qualifications: (NO RAILROAD EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)

• Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
• Pass a 7-year background check. (Felonies in the last 7 yrs, jail time, parole, or probation in the last 5 yrs, or pending charges could disqualify applicants)
• Pass a drug test & a Physical Capabilities Test. 
• No GED or diploma required.
• Strong communication skills required.

APPLICANTS MUST currently live within a 1-hour commute of Harrisburg, PA. OUT OF AREA candidates and/or those requiring relocation will NOT be considered.

• Drive a jockey truck moving 53ft trailers, containers, and chassis around the yard.
• Various Ground person duties, climbing on and off railcars, locking and unlocking tracks, putting in and taking out inner box connectors (IBCs).
• Assist packer operators in loading and unloading the equipment using hand signals.
• Assist in the process of stacking and unstacking chassis as well as loading and unloading chassis racks.
• Other assigned duties.
