Job Description

We are a family of 5 who has been using au pairs with great success for the past 8 years. However, our children are now all in school full time and what we really need help with is more child logistics (driving kids to and from activities), and support with housekeeping (laundry, dishwasher, general tidying and organization, picking up groceries). We are seeking a live-in who can work 1.5 hours in the morning to help get the kids out the door to school, and then work again in the afternoon from 2-8. These could be great hours for someone looking to study in the area. We are open to providing more hours for household management tasks as well (e.g. taking cars for oil changes, managing contractors, etc.) Primary Duties: 7:30-9:00: Morning help (alongside mom) to prepare breakfast, pack lunches, get the 3-year-old ready for school, clean up after breakfast, empty dishwasher from prior night, and take the kids to the bus stop and school. 2:00-3:00: ~One hour of work (can be anytime during the day) for laundry or other general cleaning / organization. Kids laundry days are Monday and Thursdays, adult laundry to be folded in between. I will ask for help sometimes packing them for weekend trips, afternoon activities, etc. 3:00-6:00: School pick-up (sometimes grocery pick up) and driving one or more kids to activities OR remain home with whichever kid isn't in activities and play / help with homework etc. 6:00-6:30: Dinner - I am a good cook and generally cook dinner every night for the family, I welcome some help if you cook as well. 6:30-8:00: Clean up the kitchen after dinner and help pick up around the house so things are clean before bed. Support with bedtime as needed if we have events in the evening. Desired Qualifications: A valid US work permit is required, and you will be paid on payroll at a frequency you prefer. We require an excellent and cautious driver with years of experience preferably in the US. We will provide a car for you use for all of the driving needs; you are also welcome to bring your own for personal use. We require someone who can swim. We have a pool, and you will likely be in the pool with the kids in the summer. We want to welcome someone into our home who loves children and has childcare experience. You should like engaging with kids, playing games, doing art, giving lots of hugs, etc. We keep a very clean house and are interested in someone who enjoys cleanliness and order and will be ok with 1-2 hours of housekeeping a day. Please note we do have cleaners come weekly for deep cleaning so this will not be required. Interest in cooking meals occasionally is a plus.
