Job Description
SUMMARY
The Reader, Meter is responsible for accurate and timely meter reading for the City to ensure proper billing for electrical and/or water services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Read meters in an accurate manner and enter data into handheld computer for download to billing program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10'S and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must maintain valid driver's license

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat and cold and wet or humid conditions all non-weather related. The incumbent works near moving mechanical parts.
