Job Description


We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Architect to design, develop, and manage the mission-critical IT infrastructure that supports PBGC's operations. As part of PBGC's IT Infrastructure Operations Department (ITIOD), you will ensure the stability, reliability, and security of the IT systems serving over 33 million Americans' pension benefits. You will lead efforts in infrastructure modernization, system performance optimization, and disaster recovery planning across PBGC's hybrid data center environment.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities


• Ensure the stability, security, and high availability of IT infrastructure applications, computing, and storage components.


• Manage database, enterprise services, server, storage, and backup administration.


• Oversee web and application middleware administration and support.


• Establish and maintain disaster recovery and contingency plans to ensure organizational resilience.


• Lead database installation, configuration, refreshes, and restores.


• Monitor and analyze infrastructure performance, identifying trends and optimizing system resources.


• Implement monitoring tools to ensure application and system availability.


• Conduct hardware and software testing and administer the Physical Access Control and Surveillance System (PACSS).


• Perform version control, updates, and deployment of IT software packages.


• Maintain physical and virtual server images and templates for consistent infrastructure support.


• Manage PBGC's on-premise storage area network (SAN), including the SAN Fabric, arrays, and network-attached storage devices.


• Ensure regular backups are performed and stored according to PBGC's policies.


Education & Experience


• B.S. in a relevant IT discipline (desired)


• M.S. in a relevant IT discipline (desired)


• 15-20 years of experience in IT infrastructure architecture and administration (desired)


Certifications


• ITIL v4 (Required)



• DevSecOps Foundations (Required to be obtained upon hire.)
