Arepet Industries, LLC has immediate openings for DAY & NIGHT Shift Laborer / General Labors at our Von Ormy plant.
Position Summary The laborer/helper will assist with production, perform general labor tasks, maintain plant housekeeping, assist with routine maintenance on plant and equipment and provide assistance in all areas of the plant as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Maintain a clean and safe work environment. These duties include: shoveling sand, lubricating machinery, monitor the plant conveyors, shakers, crushers, feeders and pumps, heavy ground maintenance, shoveling spillage areas and inspect plant daily.
- Clear all sand from hopper at every opportunity.
- Guide trucks entering the yard to safe racks.
- Operate the safe rack to open and close trailer hatches.
- Perform heavy equipment checklist daily.
- Assist in performing the Production Area Inspection Checklist.
- Observe critical points of plant operation and when necessary respond with corrective actions.
- Report any critical issues of the plant, equipment, and of production to Foreman.
- Assist Foreman in coordinating and executing the loading and unloading of trucks.
- Coordinate with drivers to ensure the proper loading of sand from the hopper by weight and type of sand.
- Assist the foreman and mechanic on duty to ensure the continued operation of the plant and equipment.
- Ensure the plan and warehouse area is ready for production and areas are free of debris, and organized by sand type for each designated area.
- Attend safety meetings and meetings of priority as required by Foreman, Safety Manager, and Plant Manager.
- May perform additional assignments as necessary.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities - Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, overtime and holidays as needed
- Must be able to read equipment operating manual
- Must be able to wear all required safety equipment
- Must be able to communicate with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment
- Must be service oriented with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment
- Must be able to follow instructions as well as make some independent decisions
- Must be able to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
Physical Requirements - This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and half-mask respirator
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basis
- Must be able to stoop, bend and lift 50 lbs from ground to waist level on a repetitive basis
- Must work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, SAND and noisy conditions
- Must be able to work at various heights
- Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controls
- Possess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feet
Education and Experience - High school diploma or GED preferred
- Heavy equipment experience preferred
