Join us at YMCA Camp Ocoee as our Head Nurse for SUMMER 2026. The Head Nurse manages the camp heath and safety program, provides medical treatment to campers and staff when necessary, administers medication to campers, complies with all required documentation, maintains health records and supplies, ensures compliance with ACA (American Camp Association) standards and acts as health educator for campers and staff.
Camp season, including one week of training, begins May 25, 2026 and ends July 25, 2026. Responsibilities include: • Provides for proper nursing intervention regarding camper and/or staff illness, conditions, or emergency care and makes appropriate referrals and provides for follow up care as needed.
• Performs assessments and administers immediate first aid to injured parties.
• Identifies pertinent camper medical needs and ensures that this information is communicated with the appropriate camp staff.
• Maintains records regarding administration of medication, prescribed treatments, and other health and medical needs in accordance with ACA standards and YMCA guidelines.
• Communicates with parents regarding injuries and illnesses.
• Completes incident reports according to YMCA guidelines, and ensures appropriate follow-up.
• Oversees the preseason set-up and the postseason closing of the Infirmary, including performing opening and closing inventory of all supplies and equipment.
• Under supervisory approval, orders supplies/equipment throughout season to maintain necessary inventory.
• Assesses and assists with the health and hygiene needs of the campers, including daily inspections of cabins.
• Becomes familiar with and adheres to the health protocols and standing orders approved by designated physician.
• Supervises and coordinates with volunteer nurses and other medical professionals as needed.
• Works with the Senior Program Director to ensure staff are following camp policies, procedures and safety guidelines.

Qualifications: • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or higher level nurse with current CPR/First Aid certifications.
• Ability to live onsite for 9 weeks of summer camp season and maintain a flexible schedule, including weekends
• Must have a valid Drivers License and ability to pass a criminal background check including MVR
• Professional oral and written communication skills
Salary: $1,250 per week Physical requirements of the position include walking (up to 5 miles per day on uneven ground), stooping, standing, sitting, climbing, kneeling, lifting (could be up to 50 lbs.) to perform essential functions and support program activities in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
Work schedule - Monday to Friday
