Job Description

This position is responsible for performing general field crew duties related to water and sewer system installation and maintenance. This position requires the ability to work within a team and be cooperative and efficient. Overtime or on call time for customer service or emergency repairs may be required.

Responsibilities:

• Works with team to dig water line trenches according to CCWA policy.
• Assist with performing water and sewer system maintenance and repairs.
• Assists with water and meter connections and installations.
• Operate hand and power tools necessary to accomplish job.
• Work within team to ensure that all needed tools and equipment are loaded on work truck.
• Assist with water line repair and leak detection.
• Assist with meter reading when called upon.
• Replace damaged water meters.
• May require overtime for customer service or emergency repairs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Skill in using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Skill in oral communication. Communication is typically with CCWA employees and the general public. These contacts are important in order to exchange work related information and provide customer service.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Must hold a valid Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• The work is typically performed outdoors or in a vehicle. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, grease, dust, inclement weather, dangerous animals and insects as well as machinery with moving parts. The work requires the use of protective devices such as goggles, masks, eye protection, and gloves.
• The work is typically performed while sitting, bending stooping, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light to heavy objects while working around machinery with moving parts. This position requires a high degree of physical dexterity.

Carroll County Water Authority was formed in 1967 to furnish potable water to the various municipalities, individuals, businesses, residences, and other water users located in Carroll County, adjoining counties and states, to the extent such can be feasibly and economically served. Currently the Authority has approximately 20,000 customers. Also, the Authority operates a small sewer system within a gated community.
