The Equipment Appraisal Specialist is a pivotal role within Purple Wave, responsible for providing specialized support in evaluating machinery and equipment across various industries. They play a crucial role in determining the value of equipment for purposes such as loan approval, insurance policies, estate disposition, and asset liquidation. Leveraging expertise in machinery and equipment, along with staying updated on market trends, they ensure accurate and timely evaluations.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluation Process: Conduct thorough assessments of machinery and equipment to ascertain their value accurately. This involves examining technical specifications, operational condition, and overall quality to determine fair market value.
  • Value Determination: Utilize expertise in machinery and equipment to evaluate wholesale or auction-sale values. Incorporate knowledge of equipment specifics, industry standards, and prevailing market conditions to derive accurate valuations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with existing teams and functional groups to provide specialized support in evaluating machinery and equipment. Coordinate with stakeholders to understand evaluation requirements and deliver results that meet their needs.
  • Market Research: Stay abreast of industry developments, technological advancements, and market trends affecting machinery and equipment values. Conduct regular market research to ensure evaluations are aligned with current market conditions.
  • Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports documenting evaluation findings, methodologies employed, and value determinations for machinery and equipment. Ensure accuracy and clarity in all documentation to support decision-making processes.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate evaluation results to stakeholders, providing clear explanations and addressing any queries or concerns related to machinery and equipment values. Collaborate with teams to ensure a shared understanding of evaluation outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance evaluation processes and methodologies for machinery and equipment. Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvement to relevant stakeholders to optimize accuracy and efficiency.
  • Undertake additional assigned duties as requested

  • None

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in machinery and equipment evaluation, appraisal, or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of various types of machinery and equipment across industries, including construction, agriculture and fleet trucks.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical specifications and assess operational performance.
  • Familiarity with market research techniques and tools for evaluating machinery and equipment values.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in evaluation processes.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications for data analysis and documentation.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new tasks
  • Requires a self-motivated person who can take initiative, maintain high ethical standards, and positively represent our company to customer base

Working Settings:
  • Full-time Salaried Exempt, not eligible for overtime.
  • Office hours are 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, additional hours may be required depending on priorities
  • This position is based in the Purple Wave headquarters in Manhattan, KS or remote in the specified region.
  • Expected to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Compensation:
  • The salary varies based on experience and qualifications, but typically ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 per year.
  • Monthly Bonus Program - determined by the Company's monthly revenue result and are paid on a "percent to plan" payout formula. (90% = $300, 100% = $600, 110% = $900, 120% = $1,200)
  • Monthly phone stipend in accordance with the Company's cell phone policy, currently $120/month
  • Health, Dental, and Vision starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment
  • 401(k) plan with an employer match up to 4% starting the first day of employment
  • Company-paid Life Insurance benefit of $25,000 with options to add more through employee contribution starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment
  • Personal Time Off (PTO) annual amount of 120 hours which is prorated based on the number of days between the 60th day of employment and the end of the calendar year
