Job Description

A K-12 educational setting in Westfield, PA is seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time contract position runs from August 20, 2025, through June 4, 2026, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (approximately 6.5 to 7 hours per day, 32.5 to 35 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication between a student who is deaf or hard of hearing and their hearing peers, teachers, and other school staff.
• Translate spoken English into American Sign Language and vice versa to ensure equal access to classroom instruction and activities.
• Support effective participation of the student in educational settings.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Minimum Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, OR
• Full certification (non-provisional) through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
• Candidates with previous experience as an ASL paraprofessional may be considered, though certified interpreters are strongly preferred.
• Experience working in educational environments is beneficial.
