As a tutor on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys—all from the comfort of your home. What We Look For In a Tutor Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style. Expertise in Discrete Math and the ability to explain concepts clearly. Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles. Priority given to those with tutoring experience, teaching experience, and graduate-level education. Responsibilities Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students. Accept on-demand tutoring requests when available. Use Varsity Tutors’ Live Learning Platform to deliver lessons remotely. Invoice for tutoring sessions; the platform handles payments. Compensation and Benefits Base contract rates start at $18/hour and increase for specialized subjects; pay can reach up to $40/hour with the same student over time. Get paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice. Set your own hours and tutor as much as you’d like. AI-powered Tutor Copilot provides real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features to save prep time.
