Job Summary

The Minnesota Board of Psychology protects the public through licensure, regulation and education to promote access to safe, competent, and ethical psychological services.

The Compliance Director is responsible for oversight of all complaint resolution matters and is charged with establishing and managing processes, procedures and guidelines to ensure the Complaint Resolution Unit operates in the most efficient and effective manner, serving as a lead worker and providing training and work direction to junior staff. This position is responsible for investigating complaints utilizing investigative techniques including interviews, subpoenas, and written inquiries. The incumbent also assists the Executive Director in the development and implementation of Board policy by analyzing ethical issues relating to the practice of psychology. At the direction of the Executive Director, the incumbent initiates, research, and drafts recommendations for statutory and administrative rule language; and represents the Board by presenting policy and legislative matters relating to the Board's complaint activities to educational facilities and Board sponsored conferences. The incumbent is charged with designing, implementing, and monitoring all educational programming for the Complaint Resolution Unit.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: analytical writing, case management, legal writing, regulatory compliance, or investigation.
  • Strong investigative writing and analytical skills sufficient to draft memorandums analyzing potential statutory and administrative rule violations as well as drafting legal documents, including letters of inquiry.
  • Advanced communication skills (oral, writing, editing, public speaking, etc.).
  • Ability to learn, interpret and apply statutes and administrative rules.
  • Ability to serve as a lead worker assigning and reviewing work, providing training, and serving as a technical expert.
  • Strong problem-solving skills sufficient to research, determine possible solutions, analyze possible implications or consequences, and make recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with diverse audiences including under stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle daily multiple responsibilities including managing multiple cases in various stages of review.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in legal analysis.
  • Ability to develop a strong knowledge of the Psychology Practice Act sufficient to interpret, provide and apply such knowledge accurately.
  • Knowledge of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and Open Meeting Law.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment sufficient to prioritize, meet deadlines, and coordinate activities.
