About the Role
The Company is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as board members, playing a pivotal role in the organization's mission to foster a more participatory democracy. Board members are expected to engage in strategic and long-range planning, provide oversight and support to the executive staff, and ensure that all activities are in line with the organization's mission. This includes administrative policy development, fiscal management, and meeting legal and contractual obligations. Key service obligations for board members include a commitment to a 2-year term, regular attendance at quarterly meetings, active participation in at least one committee, and a meaningful annual contribution. The ideal candidate for the board member position at the company will have a strong belief in community service and social justice, be motivated for positive progressive change, and demonstrate a predisposition to action and problem-solving. Commitment to investing time and talent, as well as the ability to engage in open dialogue as a decision-maker, are essential. Board members are also responsible for recruiting new members, volunteers, and donors, and must be aware of and avoid any conflicts of interest. The role is demanding but rewarding, with the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization's growth and the democratic process in the region.
